on this day

38 years ago today the Stones Played Altamont Speedway.

Today would be a good day to watch "Gimme Shelter" the movie which chronicles the 1969 tour.

My favorite line in the movie comes from Mick when viewing footage of Ike and Tina Turner, who was the opening act:
"It's nice to have a chick occasionally"

How did Tony miss this post? He must be composing a lengthy comment.

I was saving up for comment and forgot to come back! That little puppy distracted me.

What luck that the Stones let the Maysel Brothers tag along for this incredible disaster in the making of a tour. Not only that, they let Stanley Boothe on the plane too. Stanley went on th write the greatest rock book ever and fills in a lot of what we miss in the film.

The part that I constantly rewind and replay are the Muscle Shoals sessions, and the "Love in Vain" playback w/Keith laying on the floor in back of the console. I would kill to see the raw footage of the guys making " Sticky Fingers" the greatest album of all time.

The film and book are scary too. Reading/seeing them you can start to pick up bits and pieces of their personalities that would become more pronounced as the years rolled on. I think you start to see the dicked out part of Mick in it's early stages.

"If that cat right there doesn't stop it, man, we're splitting...."

If Keith isn't comfortable, shit, it's gotta be a bad scene.
